Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our dog, Pierre. Thanks to you, and some excellent work from the doctors and team at the Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, Pierre is home and improving each day. I recognized many years ago that I am a much better veterinarian to your pets than to my own. I think there are many reasons for this, but ultimately, I think that I simply lack objectivity. Emotion is a powerful thing, and although it is the glue that holds relationships together, and likely the reason we are so successful as a species on the earth, you can't turn it off. Its been 10 years this month since we opened the doors of Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic. So many people have been part of this...so many people. We started with a very old building that needed loving. We went through two building projects I have employed 32 people and 5 different vets (not including a day or two fill in). Paws on Parade 2015
For many years now we have put together a team for Paws on Parade. For those who are new to our email list or area, Paws on Parade is an annual fun-fest put on by the Bangor Humane Society to raise money and awareness for the homeless pets in our area. The event this year is held on October 3rd at the Bangor Waterfront. Many of you have adopted pets from the Bangor Humane Society....just like me. Forgiveness
Several months ago, I became aware of the 5th client of Kindred Spirits that was sent away to serve jail time. All 5 people I knew were animal lovers, and I saw each of them in that capacity before hearing or reading in the paper that they had been convicted of a crime and were to be sent away. In each case, I bet that their pets had no earthly clue what was going on. I think that capacity for forgiveness is a human characteristic.
