Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic is complete.
To the clients, staff, builders, designers, friends and family….I send out a sincere thank you.
To anyone who is reading this, next time I say that I am going to start a building project…please punch me in the face.
But the good news is that we have a beautiful space for you and for your pets. I called this building project “Kindred 2.0” because it was like one of those software rewrites that allows you to correct the problems with the original design that you didn’t know about until people started using it. For instance, to have the only bathroom in the waiting area means that I got to wave to each of you before using the little boys room.
I wanted to give you an overview of the new facility, and some special thanks….we had the most wonderful team to make this dream a reality. But before I give you the list, I want to let you know what to expect going forward. We have added appointments to make up for the past few months. I am working Monday-Friday for awhile to catch up.
The exception is next week, when I am taking vacation. The parking lot is complete and should be lined this week. There are now 3 parking spaces in the front for handicapped people or handicapped pets. If your pet or you have trouble walking, park by the entrance. The new entrance is now to the side
Now the thank you’s…..
Mary Jude–amazing design. You really could do this for a living, as long as you have Dave Merritt and Adam. Thank you for toweling me off an throwing me back into the ring.
I love you
Adam Liscomb of ATL CustomBuilders and your crew…you are awesome. Thank you so much for your attention to detail and your hard work. You brought this project to the next level with quality construction
I love you too, but not as much as I love Mary
Kindred Spirits Clients–Thank you for your patience, walking over occasional debris and mud, ignoring the construction, cheering us along, talking over power tool noises, bringing us coffee and cookies
Dave Merritt and Kristy–architects extraordinaire. The whole thing wouldn’t have been possible without you two.
Peoples Bank–thank you for believing in us, and in our dream, and for allowing us to go into more debt than we ever thought possible 🙂
Penguins–thank you for your concern for the animals and me, both of which were admittedly frazzled. You focused on the patients and the clients during a very difficult time. You are the heart of Kindred Spirits…thank you for keeping that first in your mind amidst hammering and drywall dust…and the fire.
Larry Pelletier–you put rocks in such cool places. If any of you see a rock in our new place, small or big, Larry put it there.
Terry Michaud–you take care of our place like it is your own. You have done that since we opened our doors and we appreciate it. If it grows at Kindred Spirits, Terry tended it.
Vance–I could watch that fishtank for days and already have
Kevin Williams–not only do we have heat and air conditioning, but fresh air everywhere. Thank you so much for the nights and weekends
Maine Signs–I never thought making signs could be so fun. Patti–you are a genius!
Friends and family–sorry we have dropped off the map. Thank you for your understanding and support
Orrington Town Office–You rock! Most businesses have an adversarial relationship with their tax collectors, permit makers, inspectors… but you all helped and supported us through the entire project. Thank you for making Orrington so business friendly
My favorite part of the project comes next….using it. If you haven’t seen it yet, come by and leave some of your juju. It is the energy of our community that made the Kindred 1.0 feel so inviting, and it will be your energy that makes this next phase just as positive. We removed the stair risers and hung them on the wall
“we are Kindred Spirits, woven of the same silken thread”
With all of the hullaballoo, that is what you will really see when you come to Kindred Spirits. People who love their pets.
People who celebrate good times with their pets
People who worry about their pets
People who have had affection from their pets when they were at their lowest and no one else knew except the pet that licked the tears
People who dress up their pets
People who laugh at their pet’s antics
People who have lost pets, and people who have welcomed new pets
People who believe in this community
So don’t worry that we will not provide the exact same understanding that you have come to depend upon. Our prices won’t go up because we are in a fancy new place. Thanks to the bank, we will pay that all off over many years. You guys don’t have to worry about that. Let me and Mary worry about that.
In the meantime, enjoy the work done by many people to make our space more comfortable for you and your four legged friends.
and the coolest part is….I get to pee in private!!!
After I get back from vacation, I promise to return to writing blogs, slaying disease, helping in the community, and being a good friend to those I love..and I promise to stop whining about construction.
So help me God
Mark
P.S. Thanks to you all, we have been voted the Best in Bangor for the 4th year in a row. I also promise to appreciate that for what it is, a recognition that you all support us, and not a reason to get a big head.
But I am secretly very proud of it.
