Exotic Pet Care

Here at Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic, we believe in providing exceptional care for all pets, no matter the species. We know how important your pets are, no matter if they have scales or feathers, they are a part of your family. Avian and exotic pets such as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, parrots, poultry, lizards, snakes, turtles, tortoises, and frogs are all welcome at Kindred Spirits. Our specialized team has years of experience working with these unique species and knows that they require specialized care. Our facility has the specialized equipment required for routine and advanced diagnostic, surgical and dental procedures. Our services include wellness exams including nail trims, ferret vaccines, husbandry and nutritional evaluation, radiographs, in house bloodwork, specialty send out testing, urinalysis, ultrasound, spays and neuters, soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery.

A critical part of keeping an exotic pet healthy is to provide them with the appropriate environment and diet. These pets can have very specific husbandry requirements to maintain their health and it can be difficult to sift through all the conflicting and unreliable information on the internet. Here at Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic, we do a thorough evaluation of husbandry and nutrition as part of every exam on each exotic pet that comes into our clinic. This makes sure your pet is getting the best care possible every day. It is important that before your first exam with your pet you fill out the history form as thoroughly as possible. This will allow us to provide the best recommendations for your pet’s care.

Exotic pets often don’t show obvious signs of disease. If you notice your pet has a decreased appetite, decreased activity or unusual behavior, please contact us right away. Mild symptoms of disease in these animals can often indicate a more serious problem. Early detection is crucial for successfully treating your pet’s illness, and our experienced team is dedicated to providing the best care possible.
